Sony D-NF340 CD Walkman with FM Tuner and MP3 CD capability
As an avid audiobook listener, I can listen to two books per week, I love my Sony D-NF340.
I bought my D-NF340 about two years ago and it has served me well ever since. I use it every day and find on average the two AA cells required to power it last about twenty hours when used with the CD player. The cells last longer when the FM radio is used.
The player is fairly robust, I have dropped it a couple of times on hard surfaces with no apparent damage.
The player has dual controls, one set on the top of the player itself a second set on the cable which connects the ear buds to the player. The remote controls are a little reduced to allow only volume control, pause and play together with track or radio station selection. Controls on the player itself include display modes, length of time on track, time on CD etc. also bass boost.
The ONE Problem
This player has only one problem for me.
I have quite long fingers and the battery compartment is contained inside the player near the top. This means opening the battery compartment can be awkward as I have to squeeze my hand back against the lid, putting pressure against the hinge, quite worrying at first. If the designers had placed the battery compartment opposite the hinge in might have been better.
Having said this I have no real problems changing the batteries when necessary.
The GOOD Points:
The player works well. I have owned mine for two years and it gives good results.
When listening to a CD or MP3 CD the player remembers where the disc was stopped during current play when changing batteries. This is useful on long MP3 CD books which can run to several hours if the battery fails half way through.
It is good value for a multiple format player. At the time I bought mine most other MP3 CD players were in the $100 range this was about $60 at that time. Even better value now.
It is light weight and easy to carry in a pocket. Even when moving about the CD player tracks perfectly, no skipping or jumping as you move.
